Microblading is the perfect solution for you. It can benefit anyone experiencing brow hair loss by giving them fuller, natural-looking brows. You’ve probably seen influencers and celebrities with amazing natural-looking eyebrows that cause major brow envy. You were surprised that the secret behind them is a widely available treatment – microblading. Microblading is currently one of the hottest trends in the beauty industry. Women worldwide are taking advantage of this safe way of making eyebrows impeccable without makeup. It absolves you from the hassle of brow pencils, powders, pomades, tweezers, etc. Microblading can make the creation of perfect eyebrows possible and give you fuller, natural-looking eyebrows. You get the naturally beautiful-looking brows you want, and following the Microblading Aftercare Instructions is essential. Failure to follow after-care instructions can result in scarring, infections, pigment loss or discolouration.
Why should you take care of your eyebrows after treatment?
As you may have known by now, microblading involves needles attached to a tool that creates lines resembling eyebrow hairs. During the procedure, pigment is manually (through the tool) placed on the dermis, the inner layer of skin. In a way, it’s like getting a tattoo. Penetration of the blade into the skin is needed to deposit pigment. Traditional tattoos use a machine, while microblading typically uses a manual tool. Microblading will most likely feel different and hurt less than a conventional tattoo, which isn’t permanent. Still, microblading is subject to the same risks as tattooing, including infection and allergic reactions to the pigments used. In rare cases, severe reactions can occur. This is why we need to take aftercare for microblading.
Nonetheless, there’s nothing much to worry about in the procedure itself. Even if the scratches on your skin are minor, the skin will regenerate with each stroke. However, it may take time for your skin to heal, depending on its type and condition. Thus, you must assist your eyebrow skin cells in smoothening the process.
Microblading aftercare instructions
After the microblading procedure, a person’s eyebrows might appear darker for at least one week afterwards. They may also feel sharper due to scabbing and healing. It is also customary to experience some redness and mild swelling. About 2 hours after microblading, you should run a cotton swab dipped in sterilized water over the area. This will get rid of any excess dye on your brows. It will also keep the site sterile. It takes 7 to 14 days for the skin to appear healed and for the pigment to fade to its intended shade.
NO MOISTURE! NO WATER! NO SWEAT! NO SUN! For 10 days.

The best results come from the “Do Nothing” or “Dry Healing” method. The best results come from keeping your brows extremely DRY for the next 10 days! Keeping them dry makes them retain more detail, have better colour, and have more crisp strokes, so it’s worth it. It sounds tricky but it can be done if you’re mindful.
- For the first 48hr, use fragrance-free baby wipes 2-3 times to clean your eyebrows;
- Gently wash over the eyebrows with a fingertip, using antibacterial soap and water for about 10 seconds, rinsing, and then patting dry;
- With the aftercare cream provided for you, using a minimal amount, the amount applied to each eyebrow should be comparable in size to half of a grain of rice; only use if needed when your eyebrows feel tight or dry to avoid suffocating the skin and interfering with the skin’s natural healing process. Apply a skinny layer in one direction. And that’s it for the next 10 days;
- Keeping the brows away from water for 7–10 days, which includes not taking long showers or swimming, as too much steam can also harm brows. You can get shower caps to cover your hair and eyebrows if you’d like. Keep your face directly out of the shower stream & do your best to carefully wash your hair, and keep looking as dry as possible. Keep clean paper towels on hand to pat dry if they accidentally get moist;
- When washing your face, be sure not to splash water onto your face like we usually do. Instead, wet a paper towel or fragrance-free baby wipes to wash AROUND the brows, ensuring they stay dry and clean;
- Avoid engaging in heavy household cleaning where airborne debris can become prevalent and participate in sports and activities that induce perspiration. If you want the best colour and detail retention, this is crucial;
- Avoid putting makeup on the brow area or applying any creams to your face and neck containing retinol or glycolic acid while it is actively healing to keep the area as clean as possible. If not, it will damage and ruin the result;
- Not picking at the scabs as they can cause scarring and colour loss. To help minimize scabbing, use a clean cotton ball to lightly dab the microbladed area with distilled water a few times per hour for the remainder of the day;
- Avoiding direct sunlight or tanning for at least 4 weeks after the procedure. Because exposure to the sun over time can cause fading and discolouration of the pigment, UV/UVA rays or chemicals can cause a shift in colour and premature fading. Once completely healed, you should apply sunscreen daily on the treated area. Wear oversized sunglasses and a hat for further protection. Rinse and dry the area thoroughly when in contact with chlorine;
- Not using facial scrubs or peels for at least 4 weeks after the procedure;
- You should not have laser resurfacing or hair removal after your tattoo has healed because laser procedures may darken, lighten, or discolour the tattooed area;
- Not sleeping on the face for at least 10 days after the procedure.
IMPORTANT:
- You should wash the eyebrows gently with antibacterial soap while avoiding exposing them to too much water for too long, which may help to promote recovery;
- After day 14, you can resume your normal activities and wash your face normally, including your brows. With a gentle face wash, such as Cetaphil, continue avoiding laser or chemical peels, exfoliation forms, and any creams containing retinal or glycolic acid until after your microblading touch-up appointment. It’s a healing process as well;
- Contact a physician if any signs or symptoms develop, such as the following: fever, redness at the site, swelling, tenderness of the procedure site, elevated body temperature, red streaks going from the procedure site towards the heart, and any green/yellow discharge that is foul in odour.
What to expect
Immediately following your procedure, the tattooed area will appear to be darker and bolder in colour, more sharply defined, or even more filled-in. This can last up to a week after the treatment while the initial healing process takes place. Everyone’s skin heals differently, and most clients develop patchy areas or the appearance of fading after the first treatment. It is essential to understand that this is a two-part process, and the second Touch Up Treatment will complete the procedure, and after healing, you will see the result. During the initial healing period, the skin may be scabbing, flaking or peeling. However, after 10 days, you may gently use brow makeup if you need it. The colour will slowly come back to life and bloom back to the surface as that new, white skin settles in and heals. Please wait at least 4 weeks to see the actual colour, as it will take on new strength, and it is only after 6 weeks that your touch-up/adjustment can be made. Thus, the complete healing process takes about 4-6 weeks, at which time the true colour of the tattoo is evident. During this process, your tattoo will soften and lighten. Be patient, even if you overthink colour has been lost, as your skin is still regenerating and naturally exfoliating.

After following the 14-day aftercare process, it’s time to make those eyebrows much more gorgeous. You must be ready to get those beautiful, lasting eyebrows finally. How you take care of your new brows significantly affects the healed outcome.
